Maximizing Your Landscape

With the days getting longer and the weather warming up, more and more homeowners are spending their afternoons and weekends outdoors. Enjoying the perfect porch and patio weather is simple with Turfscape. By removing the need for weekly upkeep including mowing or trimming, seasonal applications of fertilizers or pesticides, or need for daily watering, artificial landscape saves measurable time, money, and resources. Artificial grass is the perfect solution for residential landscaping needs due to its extremely minimally needed maintenance. However, getting the most out of your Turfscape yard does require occasional effort to keep your landscape immaculate.

Cleaning Debris:

To keep your yard visually appealing, it is important to clean it as needed.  However, when you have a yard composed of synthetic turf, it is important to use the correct tools so that you do not damage the grass fibers.  A standard plastic rake and leaf blower are recommended.  You should never use a metal or wire rake- this can tear the fibers.  Both a plastic rake and a leaf blower will remove any organic debris with ease.

It is also recommended that you regularly brush the fibers with a stiff boom brush.  This helps keep the blades in an upright position and maintain even infill levels.

Removing Spills and Stains:

Spills are best dealt with promptly and in the proper way.  Most stains can be easily removed with hot (not boiling) water and a mild household detergent.  Brush the stain with a stiff bristle brush, scrub the area with soap and water, rinse with clean water, and pat dry.  Mild detergents are best, and you should never use a cleanser with chlorine bleach or other acidic chemicals.

For oil-based stains, including motor oil and grease, cooking oil, suntan oil, and floor wax, it is best to use a grease spot remover (perchloroethylene, dry cleaning solution).  A dry cleaning solution is also an excellent remover of chewing gum, tree sap, or other sticky substances when available; However, ice or a freezing aerosol spray are great alternatives for removal.

Brushing Yards with Infill:

It is recommended to groom the surface of your system and maintain infill levels for the fibers to lay in the best position.  To brush the surface, use a stiff broom brush to take the fibers against the grain, paying special attention to high traffic areas.  Regular brushing like this helps maintain uniform infill levels, keep the grass fibers upright, remove debris, and improve long-term appearance and performance.
